原理:Jeffreys 散度 J(p, q) = KL(p‖q) + KL(q‖p),把非对称的 KL 散度按两个方向求和对称化——又称对称 KL 或 J 散度,由统计学家 Harold Jeffreys 提出。

示例:p = (0.5, 0.5)、q = (0.9, 0.1) 时 KL(p‖q) = 0.736965594166、KL(q‖p) = 0.531004406411、J = 1.267970000577 比特;p = (0.25, 0.25, 0.5)、q = (1/3, 1/3, 1/3) 时 J = 0.166666666667 比特。
注意事项:任一方向出现零概率对非零概率时 J 变为无穷大;J 对称但仍是散度而非距离——它不满足三角不等式;J 不超过 2 倍 JS 的上界关系(J ≤ 2·JS·log2e 换底口径需注意);贝叶斯统计中 Jeffreys 先验与本散度同名但不同物。
